I'm expecting an offset, but I called the TOP hotline and for some odd reason, it shows that we do not have any debts associated with our names at this time.
We received a letter last year over 2009 tax year with about a $2000 difference and found that Jackson Hewitt did not put in all the W-2s we provided them.
I have not heard from the IRS since I sent the amended return in mid 2010. I wonder if that's why I don't have an offset yet (unless they start adding them after Jan 1 for the upcoming tax season).
Anyway, we have had one once before, a small one, from a forgotten W-2 in 2006, and I swear that our refund wasn't delayed at all. WMR showed the date, it never changed, and on that date, we got our refund, just minus the small offset amount.
Is this pretty much typical when the offset is an IRS debt, or what is a typical delay, say, we got lucky that year not having a delay?
