Is it optional that you have OASDI/EE taken out of your paycheck.?

NO not optional at all UNLESS you are covered by a similar plan of retirement and insurance plan when working for some government JOBs or a clergy religion that has choose to be covered some other plan or way also by using the correct form for that purpose and time in their life.OK
The (OASDI) Old Age Survivor and Disability Insurance (FICA) (social security and Medicare taxes) all mean the same tax for social security benefits (SSB or SSDI). All mean the same thing.
What does /EE represent or is supposed to mean that you have enclosed above?
FICA amounts would be required to be withheld before deductions are withheld out of your Gross wages and earning for each pay period during the tax year RIGHT.
FICA stands for "Federal Insurance Contributions Act." It’s the tax withheld from your salary or self-employment income that funds the Social Security and Medicare programs.

No, it is not optional.

Some taxpayers are exempt, such as certain state and school system employees who have state coverage that duplicates Social Security.

Members of a very few religious sects that have existed since the early 1950s and that eschew insurance and public support as part of the religious beliefs may optionally be exempt from FICA taxes. See IRS Form 4029 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4029.pdf for information on such sects. The clergy in general are NOT exempt from FICA taxes.

You have no options. If you work for an employer with an exemption, you don't pay. If you don't, you do. Period. End of story.

Some occupations are exempt. The clergy and some federal and state employees. But for the most part, everyone else pays the tax.
